Artist Bio

I am a mosaic artist know as Bitza Mosaics. I started mosaics after the 2009 Black Saturday bushfires to help with my PTSD complicated health issues. I also use music as a way of coping. I have completed these drum art pieces this year to celebrate my art and my love of music, which was inspired by my brother John Hardidge (also known as Dawnie). He was a hairdresser, a dancer, a DJ, worked for the Sydney Mardi Gras and was one of 3 members of ‘The Planet Sluts’ (gutter drag performers) that appeared in Sydney at the Midnight Shift. He was the most caring, funny, talented and inspirational person I have ever known. I lost my brother to AIDS in 1996 and miss him every day.

Artwork Statement

Don Baxter, Executive Officer of the AIDS Council of New South Wales famously once said in a speech: Every town in Australia has its War Memorial. Where are the memorials to people who died of AIDS?

I’m Just A Girl, mosaic sculpture, is dedicated to my brother Johnny (also known as Dawnie).
